Texas A&M University-San Antonio's Department of Sociology and Communication seeks a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sociology starting Fall 2027. The appointee will teach six undergraduate courses per academic year on a standard 3/3 load, with a one-course reassignment in the first year and an additional reassignment during the probationary tenure-track period; summer teaching may also be available. Teaching may cover research methods, statistics and the candidate's specialization. The department welcomes a broad range of research interests and is especially interested in teacher-scholars who use quantitative methods, expecting the appointee to integrate research into teaching, contribute to Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences, and mentor students in undergraduate research. A Ph.D. in sociology is required, along with outstanding research potential, demonstrated excellence in teaching, professional service and prior university teaching experience; ABD candidates are considered but must complete the Ph.D. by appointment. Preference goes to candidates with experience teaching and mentoring at Hispanic-Serving Institutions or with majority-Latinx student populations. Applications require the faculty form, a letter of interest, CV, cover letter, a research overview and a teaching overview (each two pages or less), and contact information for three references. The position is open until filled, with review beginning within one month of posting.

Please be advised that Texas A&M University will NOT pay this fee. Therefore, if you need immigration sponsorship for your employment, we recommend that you consult with your private immigration counsel at your own expense to ascertain whether your current immigration status would make a potential offer of employment from Texas A&M University subject to this fee.
