Palm Beach State College maintains an open continuous applicant pool for adjunct instructors in sociology. Adjunct positions are filled on an as-needed basis according to departmental and instructional needs, and submitting an application does not guarantee an interview or employment. Duties described include developing, maintaining, interpreting and executing administrative procedures and practices, analysing class and program needs, recommending the retention or deletion of courses, developing and coordinating program and course schedules, faculty assignments and test dates, and assisting with program and course reviews and articulation activities. A master's degree in sociology, or a master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in sociology, is required, along with knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar applications and the ability to use the Canvas learning management system. Candidates must be able to work a fluctuating schedule including evenings and weekends. Applications must carry official or college-stamped transcripts, since transcripts produced through web-based student systems are not accepted, and degrees earned outside the United States must be evaluated by an organization belonging to NACES. The posting is open until filled, and the college conducts its employment activity within the State of Florida. Standard hourly rates vary based on the assigned course level and educational credentials.
