STIP: Curatorial Fellowship, Braunschweig Projects 2027/2028, HBK Braunschweig

HBK Braunschweig is accepting applications for a twelve-month curatorial fellowship running 1 April 2027 to 31 March 2028. The fellow develops and realises a curatorial concept for the final exhibition of the Braunschweig Projects programme 2027/2028, takes part in the jury meeting that selects the artistic fellows, and works closely with them over the course of the programme. The fellow also develops a curatorial project ideally connected to a museum, collection, or scientific or cultural institution in Lower Saxony, covering research, preparation and implementation, budgeting, communication and any accompanying educational programme, and submits a short final report at the end of the funding period. Funding is a stipend totalling EUR 1,600 per month over 12 months, with a studio apartment in Braunschweig made available rent-free subject to a EUR 250 monthly contribution towards incidental living costs. A successful applicant must already have at least three years of curatorial experience, and the fellow is expected to spend at least eight months on site during the HBK lecture period; participation in the Welcome Weeks of 19-30 April 2027 is mandatory. A scholarship cannot be granted if the applicant receives regular benefits from third parties or state funding during the funding period. Applications are submitted by e-mail and must be received by 11:59 pm CEST on 4 October 2026, and the award is decided by the HBK board on the recommendation of an expert jury.
