The Journal of Caribbean Music & Sound Cultures invites abstracts for a special issue on Konpa (konpa dirèk), examining the popular Haitian music genre's role in social cohesion, identity, gender dynamics, and heritage-making in Haiti and its diasporas. The guest editors welcome historical, sociological, anthropological, or ethnomusicological analyses, as well as feminist and intersectional approaches. Abstracts (250-300 words) are due November 1, 2026, with authors notified by November 15; first drafts are due February 15, 2027, and the issue is expected to publish in October 2027.
