§ I·Posting Excerpt

UC Santa Cruz's Environmental Studies Department invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers who may be appointed to teach in areas including environmental policy, environmental economics, water processes and policy, environmental writing, political ecology, political economy, geography, energy politics and policy, environmental law, coastal policy, environmental risks and vulnerability, environmental justice and environmental art, as well as natural history, ecology, agroecology and food systems, ornithology, entomology and soil biology. Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year and may also be made during Summer Session, contingent on the hiring unit's instructional need and the availability of funding; this recruitment covers initial appointments from fall quarter 2026 through fall quarter 2027, and internal candidates are given priority consideration. An M.A./M.S. degree or higher in environmental studies or a related field, or a bachelor's degree with a Certificate in Science Illustration, is required. A reasonable estimate for an appointment to teach a standard five-credit course is $8,872-$12,281. Review of applications began July 27, 2026 and applications are accepted until August 6, 2027.
