§ I·Posting Excerpt

The Health and Society program at The University of Texas at Austin, based in the Department of Sociology within the College of Liberal Arts, is developing a pool of candidates for possible temporary, non-tenure track positions teaching undergraduate courses. Positions are not available every semester and are contingent upon student enrollment and the availability of funding. Appointments are made on a semester-by-semester basis, though a year-long or years-long appointment can sometimes be made, and positions are renewable annually or multi-annually contingent upon funding, position and performance. A PhD in a social science or humanities discipline focused on a health-related topic is preferred, and previous college-level teaching experience is required. Applicants submit a curriculum vitae, the names and contact information for three references, and teaching materials including a teaching philosophy, teaching evaluations and sample syllabi, addressed to the chair of the Department of Sociology and the co-directors of the Health and Society program. Salary depends on the position and the candidate's qualifications. The posting was made on August 16, 2026, with an apply-by date of August 15, 2027.
