§ I·Posting Excerpt

The Cornell Population Center (CPC) invites applications for the Frank H.T. Rhodes Postdoctoral Fellowship, appointed for a one-year term from August 16, 2027 through August 15, 2028, with possible extension for a second year subject to satisfactory performance and available funding. Selection is based on scholarly potential in the broad substantive field of demography, ability to work in multi-disciplinary settings, and alignment of research interests with CPC faculty affiliates who can serve as mentors. Preference goes to fellows whose interests relate to the centre's four main areas: families and children; health behaviors and disparities; poverty, gender and inequality; and immigration and diversity. Applications are especially encouraged from candidates whose research has significance for the United States, the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Vietnam, South Africa and Bermuda. Fellows devote most of their time to independent research while taking an active part in CPC activities and events. Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in demography, economics, sociology or another related social science discipline by August 16, 2027. The application comprises a cover letter, CV, research statement, a list of two to three CPC-affiliated faculty who could serve as mentors, a writing sample and three letters of recommendation, submitted through Academic Jobs Online. The stated pay range is $62,232 to $88,745. Applications are reviewed on December 1, 2026 and continue until a candidate is selected.
