§ I·Posting Excerpt

The College of Liberal Arts at Oregon State University invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning Fall 2027. Appointment at the Assistant Professor rank is anticipated, though appointment at a promoted rank may be considered depending on qualifications, with any hiring at Associate Professor or Professor with indefinite tenure subject to a successful out-of-cycle tenure review. Candidates need a PhD in Sociology, Criminology, or a closely associated field with a research focus in crime, law, and deviance; advanced ABDs will be considered but the PhD must be complete by the time of hire. The appointee teaches five courses each academic year on the quarter system (2/2/1) in Sociology and Criminology, both in person and online, and is expected to develop online courses, contribute to graduate education by teaching and advising graduate students in the School of Public Policy, and maintain an active research agenda with potential for eventual promotion and tenure. The faculty member is expected to work primarily on campus and the posting states this is not a remote position. Applications require a curriculum vitae, cover letter, statement of research, statement of teaching including a teaching philosophy, and a writing sample; letters of reference are requested at the reference stage. Starting salary is stated as commensurate with skills, education, and experience.
